The camp offers a unique opportunity to learn cutting-edge robotics and computing technologies from ASU faculty and teaching assistants in a university setting, culminating in a robotics competition.
The ASU Robotics Camp offers an immersive two-week experience for middle and high school students interested in science and engineering. The 7Up Camp (grades 7-8, with exceptional 6th graders considered) focuses on foundational skills, including 3D animation and game development using Alice, LEGO EV3 robot construction, and EV3 graphical programming. Students prepare for robotics challenges similar to FIRST Lego League competitions. The 9Up Camp (grades 9-12) delves into advanced computing and robotics, covering visual IoT/robotics programming, web programming, and smartphone app development. Both camps emphasize hands-on learning, problem-solving, engineering design, logical thinking, teamwork, and presentation skills. Participants design, build, and program robots, culminating in a robotics challenge and demonstration.
A typical day includes check-in, instructions and hands-on laboratories, breaks with snack time (bring your own), a lunch break (bring your own or buy on Mill Ave), more instructions and hands-on laboratories, and concludes with playtime and pick-up.
This camp is best for middle and high school students who are passionate about science and engineering and want hands-on experience in robot construction, programming, and design.
