The ASU Underwater Robotics Camp offers high school students a hands-on, build-test-compete experience in the world of robotics. Participants will design, build, and program underwater robots to tackle challenges inspired by real-world scenarios, such as responding to a maritime disaster to recover items, remove hazardous materials, and document damage in a simulated deep-sea environment. The camp focuses on developing practical engineering skills including buoyancy, electrical systems, controls, and autonomy through problem-solving activities. Students will also have the unique opportunity to interact with and learn from Desert WAVE, the top-ranked underwater robotics team in the U.S., gaining insight into high-level competition and advanced robotics. The program culminates in a competition where students put their creations to the test.
During the week, students will engage in hands-on activities from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., designing, building, and programming their underwater robots, with extended hours on Saturday for competition preparation and a final competition on Sunday.
This camp is ideal for driven high school students, specifically rising 11th and 12th graders, who are curious about engineering and eager to gain real-world robotics experience through a build-test-compete model.
