In this introductory robotics course, young engineers will delve into the exciting world of BattleBots®, learning to design and build their own champion robots. Using VEX IQ hardware, campers will gain hands-on experience with mechanical engineering principles. They will customize their bots with unique characters and attachments, such as a battle shark with an attachable fin, following design standards set by BattleBots® experts. The week culminates in a BattleBots®-style robot tournament where students will test their technical knowledge and ingenuity against their peers in a series of challenges like driving maneuvers and a Simon Says game. Campers will receive an official iD Tech diploma and course transcript outlining the skills learned.
A typical day includes morning announcements, icebreakers, and team-building activities, followed by splitting into course groups for hands-on coursework in a lab, with breaks for outdoor and recreational activities and lunch in the campus dining hall.
